Reporting a Security Incident

What to do if you suspect phishing, malware, or a breach.

If you suspect a security incident—phishing click, ransomware symptoms, unusual admin prompts, or a lost device—disconnect the affected device from Wi-Fi/VPN if safe to do so, and call our security contact immediately.

Do not forward suspicious emails to colleagues. Use the Report Phishing button in Outlook if configured, or forward only to security@cyberbyte.com.au. Do not click links or open attachments to 'investigate'.

Preserve evidence—do not delete emails, wipe devices, or power off servers unless instructed. Our team will guide containment, credential resets, and recovery steps, then provide a written incident summary.

Where a notifiable data breach may apply under Australian or New Zealand privacy law, we support technical investigation while your privacy officer and counsel manage legal obligations.
